Content: After years in the seat of the Enterprise Jim Kirk is a little tired from duty and thinks about aiming for vice admiral post. Suddenly the terrified alien woman Kalara asks the federation at spacestation Yorktown for help. The Enterprise crew is eager start and reaches an uncharted region of space that is also undiscovered by long distance surveillance.
Opinion: Within two sentences the story of this movie might be described. Moreover the range for actors is tight, especially Idris Elba portraying "Krall". Hailing from a well-known franchise "Beyond" appears unpretentious and soulless, but it works as an action movie just like "Into Darkness". A lot of pleasant details add to a beautiful experience, as Your eye witnesses planets, space stations old relics, cool uniforms, coherent trivia and cutie Jaylah. Someone may end the day to this.
Sadly two actors won't be seen in further episodes: Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin deceased in 2015 and 2016.
Conclusion: Exciting visual passages with little but nice Star Trek appeal can't hide the fact that there is a lack of content, acting and Klingons. If You are not a longtime Star Trek Fan, You could be delighted by straight forward action.
